Transforming Athletic Performance through our QAB Tracking
Insightful Training for Athletes
Our team of expert coaches believes in the power of quality at bat metrics. We offer an easy to interpret summary reports based on quality at bats. Through our innovative metric system, coaches, players and parents can view AB’s as a qualitative measure. We also include mental skills tips and training tips based on the result of the athletes at bats.
At QAB Tracker we utilize a unique, sliding scale metric for Quality At-Bats (QAB) in softball and baseball. It can visually measure a player’s performance at the plate using a color-coded system (green, yellow, orange, red). Below is a sample metric based on QAB percentage, which measures the proportion of plate appearances resulting in a quality at-bat (as defined previously: reaching base, advancing runners, high pitch count, hard contact, or creating scoring opportunities).
Sliding Scale Metric for QAB
• Green (Excellent, 75–100%): Player consistently delivers high-impact at-bats, frequently reaching base, driving in runs, or forcing the pitcher to throw many pitches. Indicates elite plate discipline and contribution to team success.
• Yellow (Good, 50–74%): Player often achieves quality at-bats, contributing positively but with room for improvement in consistency or impact. Typical for solid, reliable hitters.
• Orange (Average, 25–49%): Player occasionally produces quality at-bats but struggles with consistency. May rely on weaker outcomes (e.g., advancing runners via outs) rather than reaching base.
• Red (Poor, 0–24%): Player rarely achieves quality at-bats, often failing to reach base, advance runners, or make productive contact. Indicates a need for significant improvement.
